fashion weekA group of ten students joined by the International Programme Leader took off for a week-long trip to taste the flavours of fashion and retail sectors in Hong Kong.

Retail management students have been enjoying a sneak preview of international fashion designs from the new fall/winter collections in one of the largest Fashion Week.

According to Costas Theodoridis, Retail Management International Programme Leader, the fashion event offered a fantastic spread of the very latest in apparel, accessories and fashion-related products from high-end fashion to mass merchandise, gathering well-known buyers from all over the world.

Retail management student, Jennifer Owen, said: “Fashion week was fantastic. Later we went to a seminar by WGSN (Worth Global Style Network) on macro and micro trends for S/S 2013 which was really informative and applicable for me and others in our buying modules and fashion projects this year.”

Students visited Vocational Training Council (VTC) College which is one of Lancashire Business School’s international partners. LBS undergraduates and college students have exchanged with insightful presentations about the current challenges in retail sectors in the UK and in Hong Kong.

airportThe overall aim of the trip, funded by Lancashire Business School International Travel Bursary, was to broaden the international horizons of the students, take them to a different place, let them see how a completely different retail landscape works at the same time visiting one of the biggest fashion events.

Costas added: “It was a really good opportunity for students to see how professional landscape is set up and how they need to behave within this landscape.”
