Accounting Networking 8Lancashire Business School (LBS) students have joined accounting experts for the Speed Networking event at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

The event gathered many students from Accounting and Finance courses as well as employers from well-known local and national organisations including KPMG, Leonard Curtis, Moore and Smalley, UCLan, Preston City Council and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Participants had the opportunity to practice their interviewing skills during three-minute long mock networking interviews. While they were trying hard to make the impression, employers were assessing them to nominate the top three students for Best Overall Impression Award which in the end was well and truly scooped up by the following students:

1st – Parris Innis-MckenzieAccounting Networking 2

2nd – Rebecca Ashton

3rd – Ayesha Patel

Insolvency administrator at Leonard Curtis, Suzanne Treasure said: “Events such as Speed Networking are very beneficial to students in terms of building their confidence because that was the only thing that set them apart during the round of interviews.”

Accounting and Finance Division leader Francine Le-Saint commented: “The Speed Networking event aimed to give the students some interview experience to enable them to hone their skills in this area and also to meet with people in the profession, who would give students some insight on employers, career paths, and qualifications.”

Accounting Networking 6“The feedback received from all participants was very positive and it seems that everyone enjoyed the event. All in all, it was a resounding success!”

The event was put together by Francine Le-Saint with the extensive support from Futures, a career and employability development service at UCLan.
